i hate characters that everone seems to love just because they're tough or look cool.
Wolverine
Venom
Gambit
Superman
now, spider-man is also popular, but he is often VERY well written. his character has depth. Peter Parker is just as cool to read about as Spider-Man.
Wolverine is proof that if you beat a dead horse enough, people will still watch. his Civil War tie-in, Vendetta, was cool, but mainly because of the artwork of Humberto Ramos. i don't know if i've ever read an x-men or wolverine story where afterwards i was like "wow, wolverine's cool"
Venom is alright. i like his twisted sense of justice. but i do not like Mac Gargan as Venom. hopefully Eddie Brock will someday become Venom once again. Brock's Catholic background makes for a good inner struggle with the character, but i've never seen a writer utilize that. i think Venom could be a character with great depth, but he is only looked at as "OMG he's a stronger evil Spider-Man!!!"
Gambit is cool, but he has no place being on a team. a few years back Gambit had his own miniseries, i think it was 9 or 12 issues long... something like that. but it was great. the best i've ever read about Gambit, ever. he wasn't working with the x-men, he was doing his own thing, being a theif, using women, etc. i think Gambit is an excellent loner, but a horrible memebr of a team. although making him one of Apocalypse's horsemen was cool
Superman.... where do i start. i hate everything about him. he's a one-man army. super strength, hypersonic speed, heat vision, ice breath, x-ray vision... what can't he do? the only cool aspect of him, is that every other superhero has a secret identity. they put on a costume and become a hero, but superman... he put's on a costume and becomes Clark Kent. he's one of the only heroes that is truly a hero, and not a person. but as far as stories go, how can anything be dramatic? he's superman... what danger can he been in? o wait, there it is, his only weakness, a piece of radioactive rock!!!
i read somewhere that he was supposed to be a villain. yea, superman was originally written as a villain, but the editor said that people didn't want someone that strong to be a villain, so it was changed at the last second to write a story with him as the hero _________________ SLINGERS WERE HERE! |

i dunno if i'd say "DC sucks" but i definately like marvel better. Nightwing is one of my all-time favorite characters, but other than him, there are very few DC characters i like _________________ SLINGERS WERE HERE! |

| The problem with DC is that their titles are a lot harder to get into then say comics from Marvel. The only title I'm reading from DC at the moment is BATMAN [a very good read I might add] |

I was so naive, when Justice League Unlimited came out I watched every episode waiting for Spidey to show up. But I was disappointed to find out that Spider-Man would never show because of 2 things... 1. Spider-Man was not part of DC Comics and 2. Spider-Man was not part of DC comics. I digress... I mean I didn't know the different Marvel and DC. _________________ "With great power, their must also come great responsibility."
